I’m a garden designer based in Haywards Heath, creating contemporary gardens for homes in the town and the villages around it. I handle the whole journey, from the first conversation and a planting plan through to full design and build, so the finished garden looks as good as it did on paper.

Haywards Heath Garden. The brief was a low maintenance garden that looks striking from inside the kitchen. Raised, rendered planters lift the planting behind the sofa area, and a feature wall frames a large, characterful olive tree.
A small sloped garden. I used the slope to create a sunken terrace, finished in microcement for a more contemporary feel.
Long & Shady, Cuckfield. A wet lawn needed drainage, and a bed that caught the only sun was planted with perennials of different heights. A new seating area with built in BBQ added a new social area for the clients.

Designing for Haywards Heath gardens

Being local means I know the ground I work with. Plots around Haywards Heath vary enormously, from small courtyard gardens to acreage, and the soil is typically heavy clay, which shapes what I plant and how I handle drainage. The homes range from period and listed properties to brand new builds, and it is common to find mature trees protected by preservation orders, so I plan around them from the start rather than discovering them part way through. Every project starts with a free initial consultation. From there, depending on what you need, I can provide:

2D and 3D plans, with materials, lighting and planting plans
construction detail and a tender package, and project management through the build
design-only packages, or planting plans on their own for borders that need a rethink

I work with experienced landscaping teams who share the same attention to craftsmanship, and I’ve completed more than 100 gardens, with three consecutive Houzz Best in Design awards.

Fox Hill Garden

A large, sociable family, we created an outside studio for extra accommodation, a bespoke pergola and fire place, clay paver paths to break up the limestone paving an outdoor kitchen as well as a gas fire pit on the drinks terrace.
Haywards Heath Garden

This client wanted a low maintenance garden that looks striking from within their kitchen. We added raised, rendered planters to lift the plants behind their cube spa and sofa area. We created a feature wall to help frame the large, gnarly Olive tree. We designed the fencing to change direction to add additional weight to this focal point. Finally we added a small built in BBQ and dining area.
Old Cottage

An old cottage being renovated and a contemporary extension was added. The planting needed to have a modern but traditional feel.
Large Town Garden

A professional couple who like entertaining wanted a dining terrace and a bespoke pergola to give privacy from their neighbours.
Sunken Terrace

We made the most of the sloped garden to add in a sunken terrace, surrounded by large tree ferns.
